|
Description: Some vulnerabilities have been reported in multiple Apache modules, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting and cross-site request forgery attacks and by malicious users and malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).
1) Certain unspecified input passed to "mod_imagemap" is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.
Successful exploitation requires that "mod_imagemap" is enabled and a mapfile is publicly accessible.
2) Input passed via the "refresh" parameter to the "mod_status" module is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.
Successful exploitation requires that "mod_status" is enabled and that the status pages are publicly accessible.
3) Input passed via the worker route and the worker redirect string to the "mod_proxy_balancer" module is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.
Successful exploitation requires that "mod_proxy_balancer" is enabled.
4) An error exists within the balancer manager functionality of the "mod_proxy_balancer" module. This can be exploited by malicious users to cause a DoS via an invalid balancer name.
Successful exploitation results in a crash if a threaded Multi-Processing Module is used on servers where "mod_proxy_balancer" is enabled.
5) The administrative interface of the "mod_proxy_balancer" module allows users to perform certain actions via HTTP requests without performing any validity checks to verify the request. This can be exploited to perform actions with the privileges of a target user, who is tricked into visiting a malicious website.
The vulnerabilities are reported in versions 2.2.6, 2.2.5, 2.2.4, 2.2.3, 2.2.2, and 2.2.0.
NOTE: An error in the "mod_proxy_ftp" module when a forward proxy is configured has also been reported. This can potentially be exploited to conduct cross-site scripting attacks.
6) A memory leak within the "mod_ssl" module can be exploited to cause a DoS by opening a large amount of SSL connections with zlib support.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires that the module is linked against OpenSSL 0.9.8f or later.
Solution: Update to version 2.2.9.
