CVE-2008-5420

Description:
Some vulnerabilities have been reported in EMC Control Center SAN Manager, which can be exploited by malicious people to disclose potentially sensitive information or compromise a vulnerable system.

1) A boundary error exists within the Manager Master Agent service (msragent.exe) when processing certain SST_CTGTRANS requests, which can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow by sending a specially crafted request to the vulnerable service (default port 10444/TCP).

Successful exploitation allows the execution of arbitrary code with "SYSTEM" privileges.

2) A vulnerability is caused due to the SAN Manager Master Agent service (msragent.exe) not properly verifying SST_SENDFILE requests, which can be exploited to download arbitrary files by sending a specially crafted request to the vulnerable service (default port 10444/TCP).

Solution:
Apply patches.

EMC ControlCenter v 5.x:
Update to version 5.2 SP5 Patch 4433.
